I was an adult before everyone had access to internet all the time. I was like 25 before everyone had iPhones.
I remember being like 20 years old and coming home from work to voicemails asking if I wanted to come out that night. Texting cost money. No one did that. I think now, I'm just so weary from being "always on" and always having to charge some damned device to stay connected. I don't even want to be connected.
I'm going to be re-relegating the internet back to a single room in my house. If you need me, call my house phone.
I fermented some apple juice with my ginger bug. We did a full gallon of it, we've got one last 32oz bottle in the fridge. It's delightful, but fermented goods always give me a bit of sadness -- if you find one you really truly love, you'll never have it again. Every batch is different. Every batch is the product of a particular set of moments in an environment that will never be recreated exactly.
I guess that's why ultraprocessed foods feel so comforting. You always know what to expect.
